Abstract: | Nowadays social media networking sites have developed as a vital source for disseminating information amongst individuals and groups of people everywhere in the world. The microblog sites Facebook, Twitter, Sina Weibo are some of the prominent mediums of information transmission. The explosion of new devices and internet-based education is the main cause of the increased usage of online social media. A growing number of individuals use OSNs as a contemporary communication podium for sharing their opinions and news around the world. However, maintaining the integrity of such information is still an open subject. Rumour diffusion is one of the basic mechanisms for information distribution in the system, malevolent rumour or misinformation can quickly spread via social networks and they have very pernicious effects on society or person. |
